Art
I used to be much more prolific, with the majority of my art done between the ages of 15 and 21. Still some works, like White Sands, Love, and Lazy river, were done more recently. I hope to do some larger paintings for my home soon - I have been resisting filling my walls with kitsch from Target for over a decade.

Woman in mourning
Pastel, 1998
Portraits are incredibly difficult and I have given up on every occasion other than this. Somehow I got this one right. I was inspired, and I completed this in less than an our .Like most of my art, this was drawn from someone else's photo. I created my own background for the subject.

Turf Tavern
Pastel on 400 grit sandpaper with text in acrylic
I fell in love with this tavern when visiting Oxford, England, and drew this from a photo that I took. Only later did I learn that this pub is famous for two reasons. First, it was the place where Bill Clinton would regularly "not inhale." Second, it is where Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia, set the world record time for drinking a yard of beer.

Beached Fishing Boat
Watercolor
I changed the license number for the boat to be personal. It stands for "Boston University 2003 Lacrosse number 42." I was number 42 on the club lacrosse team and graduated in 2003. This painting was more likely done in 2001.

Portland Head Lighthouse

White Sands
Acrylic on canvas
A series of three paintings I did based on photos I took after visiting White Sands National Monument (now a national park). I visited in 2003 with my father while moving from Boston to Tucson for my first real job. The first landscape, with the green plants and dunes, is everyone's favorite of the three.
